The Chiropractic profession has made great strides in the past few decades, emerging as a sound, therapeutic alternative to the conventional medical system. In fact, chiropractic is the largest, most rapidly growing drugless, non-surgical health care profession in the world. As a science, art and philosophy, chiropractic utilizes the body's inherent recuperative powers. Specifically, chiropractic emphasizes the relationship between the nervous system and the spinal column in the restoration and maintenance of health.

What does the spinal column have to do with health?

The nerves controlling all bodily functions exit between the spinal bones, called vertebrae. When the vertebrae become mis-align, they can exert excessive stress on the nerves, which may lead to pain and/or diminished function of various parts of the body. These misalignments are called subluxations. The correction of these spinal subluxations is the basis of chiropractic care as we practice it.

How does chiropractic work?

When our patients begin chiropractic care, many are amazed by the total effect on their health. Our patients tell us that chronic systemic disorders such as sinus trouble, asthma, ear infections, feminine health problems, and allergies seem to lessen or disappear entirely. The reason is simple. Your body has an innate ability to heal itself. A subluxation impedes this process by interfering with the ability of the nervous system to send messages from the brain to all of the organs, tissues and cells in your body. If the condition is not corrected, your organs and glands can not function properly. The result is abnormal body chemistry, disease and accelerated deterioration. We employ a variety of gentle manual techniques to enhance joint mobility, muscle tone and to relieve pain and other symptoms characteristic of structural dysfunction. In the process, we are attempting to correct the subluxations that are blocking your path to good health. Chiropractors do this in a conservative manner which does not rely on drugs or surgery.

Who do we help?

Subluxations may occur in people of all ages. They can be caused by factors in babies such as birth trauma and even in-utero constraint, to incidences such as accidents, sports injuries, stressful lifestyles, ergonomic stresses from computers and phones, pregnancy, poor posture work habits, environmental toxins and even diet. In later stages a subluxation may be related to the following:

  • dizziness,vertigo or headaches
  • neck pain/stiffness
  • mid back/low back pain or stiffness
  • pain, numbness or tingling in the arms/legs
  • scoliosis
  • muscle pain, weakness, trigger points
  • arthritis and degenerative joint/disc disease
  • herniated / bulging/ degenerative discs
  • stenosis and spondylolisthesis
  • overall poor health and chronic health conditions

What can you expect?

A complete health history is followed by a thorough physical examination which includes orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic evaluations and x-rays if indicated. We then discuss your condition explaining why your condition is (or is not ) a chiropractic case.

If your condition does not call for chiropractic care, we will refer you to the appropriate medical specialist. If our expertise is needed, we will discuss the type of treatment, cost, and your role in regaining your health.

Three Phases of Care:

We use conservative chiropractic care, which may consist of spinal manipulation, electrical muscle stimulation, massage therapy, exercise and nutritional guidance. We recommend that you become involved in the three phases of care in order to achieve and maintain your optimum level of health:

Initial Pain Relief:

Most of our patients seek chiropractic care because of specific pain or other symptoms they are experiencing. During this phase, we will concentrate on your primary complaint.

Spinal Rehabilitation:

After it us determined how your body is responding to care, we can develop an individual treatment schedule to attempt to correct your spinal subluxations. Our goal is to achieve the highest level of correction possible for you.

Health Maintenance:

Finally, we will work with you on preventative care with periodic spinal adjustments to your spine to maintain proper spinal motion. The goal of this phase is to allow your body the chance to function at its optimum for health and activity.

Insurance Coverage:

Today, most insurance plans pay for care. If you are not sure about your plan, we will gladly get the answer for you. We will also assist you in processing and filing your claims. Flexible payment plans are available for those without insurance coverage.
